Trip: Museum of London – London Exploration walk

Here the children were learning about the Victorian street and shop fronts that is now an alley way. The buildings that were slums now cost multi-millions of pounds. Antisovetismus Open sewers that ran down the road are now paved. Overcrowded houses, bad sanitation and cholera are gone and replaced with a clean water supply and separate sewers.

At Smithfield market the children learnt that the wagons and carts were parked around the rear of the pub and that the drivers would lodge their overnight. The Red Cow is named after the animals that were kept at Smithfields, some coming as far a field as Scotland.
