I am delighted to be able to write my first post as the new Head teacher of Raphael Independent School. All the staff and children have made me feel very welcome and I feel privileged to be joining your school community. Being a parent, I am very much aware of the responsibility that my staff and I have in ensuring that the highest standard of teaching and learning is evident in all areas.
Before taking up the post, I have had the opportunity to visit the school on several occasions and to meet with Mrs Howland, pupils and staff. I would like to say thank you to Mrs Howland for holding the fort until my arrival and her support in ensuring the transition to a new Head teacher was as smooth as possible.
My priority as Head Teacher is to ensure that Raphael Independent School continues to provide a high standard of academic education, develop all round skills for each pupil and ensure they have high expectations in all their endeavours. Not only do I want to get to know the pupils, staff and school community this term but also begin to build an excellent staff team to work with me. This is to ensure we are able to meet the needs of all our pupils to achieve their full potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development.
I know how vital working in partnerships with parents really is, in order for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience. I strongly believe achievement and enjoyment go hand in hand to ensure each child’s excellent progress. I hope you will support our high expectations in all areas, especially in behaviour and achievement.
Over the next few weeks, I will be holding ‘Meet the New Head teacher’ meetings in order for me to gain a wider knowledge of the parent community. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries, concerns or there is anything, I can do to help and support you with your child’s learning and school life.
I would like to thank you personally for your continued commitment and support towards the staff and pupils of this school.
Raphael has come a long way since it began as Clark's College in Romford in 1935. Building on the best of traditional values and embracing the exciting educational opportunities of the 21st century, we offer families good quality education in small class sizes.
Our multi-cultural community values good behaviour, mutual respect and co-operation, believing that each pupil is a unique individual who has the right to learn at school in a secure and structured environment.
I hope you will make an appointment to visit the school at your convenience.
